A Sculpture That Honors the “Invisible” Labor of Women at Home. 🧼🪣
In Zaragoza, Spain, a striking sculpture titled La Mujer Que Nunca Hizo Nada (“The Woman Who Never Did Anything”) pays tribute to the often overlooked work of housewives and mothers.
Created in 2001 by artist José Luis Fernández, the piece shows a woman carrying the weight of household chores—washing machines, buckets, brooms, and more—stacked on her back while she holds her children’s hands.
The artwork challenges the persistent myth that women who stay home “do nothing,” highlighting the critical, unpaid labor that keeps families and societies functioning, yet remains undervalued worldwide.
