Free Grocery Vending Machine Opens in The Bronx to Feed Families in Need

In a bold act of community-first innovation, a free grocery vending machine has just opened in the Bronx—quietly redefining what food access can look like.

Stocked with fresh essentials like eggs and produce, the machine is designed to support families in a borough where nearly 4 in 10 residents face food insecurity. There’s no cost, no item limits, and no barriers—just a quick QR code scan and access to quality groceries, restocked up to twice a month.
Launched by nonprofit Change Food For Good, the initiative proves that solving hunger doesn’t always require massive systems—sometimes it starts with meeting people exactly where they are. And with plans to expand into new areas, this small machine could signal a much bigger shift in how cities fight food insecurity.
