Campbell’s Exec Put On Leave After Audio Recording Catches Him Saying Their Soups Are “For Poor People” And the Chicken Comes From A “3D Printer”

According to a lawsuit, Campbell’s VP and CISO Martin Bally was recorded during a meeting where he allegedly called Campbell’s soups “for poor people” and said he didn’t want to eat chicken that “came from a 3-D printer.” The complaint also says he referred to Indian employees as “idiots” who “couldn’t think for themselves” and admitted to using marijuana edibles before work.

The employee who recorded him, Robert Garza, says he reported the recording to his supervisor in January 2025 and was fired twenty days later.

His lawsuit accuses Campbell’s of retaliation and maintaining a racially hostile work environment.

Campbell’s responded: “If the recording is legitimate, the comments are unacceptable. They do not reflect our values and the culture of our company. Mr. Bally is temporarily on leave while we conduct an investigation.”

The company also said the ingredient claims are “not only inaccurate, they are patently absurd.”
