Costa Rica Offers One-Year Visa For Remote Workers Looking To Live And Work From The Country

Imagine starting your workday with the sound of the ocean just minutes away.

Costa Rica is making that possibility a reality for qualifying remote workers through its Digital Nomad Stay program.

The program allows eligible foreign remote workers and service providers to legally live in Costa Rica while continuing to earn income from clients, employers or businesses located outside the country.

To qualify, applicants must generally show qualifying income of at least $3,000 per month, or $4,000 per month when applying with dependents or family members. Applicants must also maintain medical insurance that meets the country’s coverage requirements for the duration of their authorized stay.

The initial stay can last up to one year and may be renewed, potentially allowing qualifying digital nomads to extend their time in the country.

There is no requirement to be hired by a Costa Rican company. The program is designed for people whose work can be done remotely using digital and telecommunications technology.

For remote workers looking for a change of scenery, Costa Rica is offering more than beautiful beaches and rainforests. It is creating a pathway for professionals to build a temporary life abroad while staying connected to their work.
