In one of the largest mobilizations Brazil has seen this year, 300,000 Black women filled the streets of Brasília—shoulder to shoulder, voice to voice—leading a movement powerful enough to shake a nation.
The Marcha das Mulheres Negras was not just a demonstration; it was a historic outcry against racism, gender-based violence, and a system that has failed to protect the very women who bear the heaviest burdens. With Black women making up 68% of femicide victims in Brazil, the march called for urgent national action: protection from racial and gender violence, justice for thousands of lives lost, economic and political inclusion, and reparations for centuries of inequality and institutional neglect.
Their march was a declaration of presence, resistance, and demand—a reminder that when Black women move, the world shifts.
