“At just 20 years old, Botswana’s Masego Makati is building technology solutions to address two important challenges: hospitality businesses struggling to maintain guest relationships and graduates searching for meaningful work.
While studying Systems Engineering at Botswana Accountancy College, Makati has been developing two ventures: Serve System BW, which helps restaurants and hotels manage bookings and guest relationships through branded digital platforms, and RemoteReady BW, which prepares graduates for remote and hybrid job opportunities.
Her entrepreneurial journey began without external funding or a formal business background. Instead, she researched the market, pitched directly to hospitality businesses, and used their feedback to refine her products.
Now, Makati hopes to grow both ventures through partnerships and revenue from software engineering work, with a long-term vision of connecting more African graduates to meaningful employment while helping Botswana’s hospitality industry grow.
Her story is a reminder that entrepreneurship is not always about starting with abundant resources. Sometimes, it begins with identifying a problem, listening to the people affected, and building a solution one step at a time.
