Meet Tylik Thomas, a young Black man who defied the odds at Rikers Island — graduating as high school valedictorian inside one of the toughest prison environments in America.

Among 63 graduates at East River Academy, Tylik stood tall, proving that even in places built to break you, education can rebuild you. 🙏🏾

“In some of the harshest and roughest living conditions known to man, we found light in a place where darkness and negativity reign supreme,” he shared.

His story is more than a graduation — it’s a testament to hope, redemption, and the power of believing in yourself when the world counts you out. 🌅

Because even behind walls, dreams can rise. 🕊️
