At just nine years old, Charlotte Muritala is using social media for more than entertainment. The young Nigerian student from Offa, Kwara State, has gained attention for teaching mathematics to other children through TikTok.
A JSS2 student, Charlotte developed a passion for mathematics at an early age. Using a whiteboard, marker and smartphone, she breaks down topics such as algebra, fractions and other mathematical problems into simple, step-by-step lessons.
Charlotte says she approaches difficult questions by breaking them into smaller parts and trying different methods until she finds a solution.
Her mother helped create a platform where Charlotte could share what she knows with other children, while her mathematics teacher has praised her exceptional ability and passion for problem-solving.
Her message to other young learners is simple: keep practising, don’t be afraid of mistakes, and never give up.
At an age when many children are still discovering their interests, Charlotte is already using her passion to help other students see mathematics as something they can understand, enjoy and master.
