Victor Glover Set to Become First Black Astronaut to Travel Around the Moon an NASA’s Artemis II Mission

NASA has selected Victor Glover as part of the crew for Artemis II — the agency’s first crewed mission to orbit the Moon in more than 50 years.

If successful, Glover will make history as the first Black astronaut to travel around the Moon.

Artemis II will not land on the lunar surface, but it marks a major step in NASA’s Artemis program — which aims to return humans to the Moon and eventually pave the way to Mars.

Glover previously made history in 2020 as part of the Crew-1 mission, becoming the first Black astronaut to live aboard the International Space Station for a long-duration mission.

A new chapter in space exploration — and representation — is on the horizon.
