Detroit has launched the first electrified road in the U.S., embedding copper coils beneath a lane to wirelessly charge electric vehicles in motion.

The pilot pulls about 16 kilowatts of power into test vehicles — paving the way for future grids that could one day power buses, shuttles, and everyday traffic without stopping to charge.
