History isn’t always erased.
Sometimes it’s reshaped.
Roy Hamilton was a powerhouse vocalist whose gospel-infused style helped shape the sound of 1950s popular music.
Elvis Presley — like many artists of his era — was influenced by Black musicians who laid the foundation of rock & roll.
But saying one man was “the one Elvis copied” oversimplifies a much bigger story.
Rock & roll was built from Black blues, gospel, and rhythm & blues.
The influence is undeniable.
The full credit? Still debated.
When we revisit music history, we’re not rewriting it.
We’re expanding it.
