Meet Janet Ekundayo, the Nigerian woman whose name means “tears turned to joy.” A mother of five, she opened her heart and home to hundreds more, dedicating her life to caring for orphans and abandoned children across Nigeria.
In 1969, she founded the Ekundayo Orphanage Home in Isanlu Makutu, Kogi State, where she provided shelter, love, and hope to over 500 children. Her compassion and tireless service earned her the title “Olomo Yeye,” meaning mother of many.
Even after her passing in 2009, her legacy continues to inspire — immortalized in song by Nigerian artist TY Bello, who honored her in “Ekundayo.”
Janet Ekundayo’s life is a powerful reminder that true greatness is measured not by what we gain, but by how deeply we give. 🌍💫
