In 1973, Indian ascetic Sadhu Amar Bharati raised his right arm as an act of devotion and a symbolic call for peace. More than five decades later, he has never lowered it. What began as a spiritual offering evolved into a lifelong discipline, leaving his arm permanently immobilized and transforming his body into a living symbol of endurance, faith, and nonviolence. Bharati has said the physical sacrifice was intentional, meant to draw attention to the possibility of unity and peace in a divided world.
