At 74 years old, Mary Virginia Jones was finally freed after 32 years in prison for a crime she didn’t commit.
Convicted back in 1982, she was forced by her abusive partner to take part in a robbery and kidnapping under threats to her life. Decades later, law students from the University of Southern California’s Post-Conviction Justice Project uncovered evidence that proved her innocence — and she finally walked free in 2014. 🙌🏽
Her story is a reminder that the fight for justice never expires — and that compassion and persistence can rewrite even the hardest stories. 🕊️
