New Gallup data highlights a striking divide in how different groups of Americans feel about life in the U.S. According to the survey, 40% of women ages 15–44 say they would like to leave the U.S. permanently — the highest percentage of any demographic measured.
The sentiment shifts sharply with age and gender:
Women 45+: Only 14% say they’d like to move abroad.
Men 15–44: 19% express a desire to leave.
Men 45+: Just 8% say they want to relocate permanently.
These numbers paint a clear picture: younger women are feeling the most uncertain, the most discouraged, and the most open to building a life elsewhere. Whether driven by politics, safety, economic pressures, or a search for better opportunities, the generational gap is impossible to ignore.
This isn’t a prediction of mass migration — it’s a reflection of mood, mindset, and a deeper conversation happening across the country.
