Forbes has released its first standalone ranking of America’s top HBCUs, evaluating schools based on factors including graduation and retention rates, alumni earnings, student debt, and leadership outcomes.
At the top of the private HBCU list is Howard University, followed by Spelman College and Morehouse College. Morehouse graduates also recorded the highest mid-career median pay among the three, at $126,700.
Beyond the rankings, the list highlights both the growing demand for HBCU education and the financial pressures facing many of these institutions and their students.
HBCUs continue to educate, empower, and produce leaders who are shaping industries across the country. 🖤🎓
