Breaking Barriers on the Water — The Ebony Anglers Prove Representation Belongs Everywhere

Representation belongs everywhere — even on the water.

The Ebony Anglers, North Carolina’s all-Black women fishing team, made headlines after taking 1st place at the Spanish Mackerel Dolphin Tournament in 2020.

Founded by Gia Peebles, the team competes, mentors youth, and expands visibility in a space where Black women have long been underrepresented.

Black women don’t just participate.
They lead. They win. They shift culture.
