A Teacher Started a Gentlemen’s Club to Teach Respect and Confidence to Boys Without Fathers

When the system didn’t show up for these boys… a teacher did.

In South Carolina, Raymond Nelson noticed many of his fifth-grade students were growing up without consistent father figures. Instead of lowering expectations or disciplining harder, he chose something different — presence.

He started a Gentlemen’s Club where the boys dress formally, learn etiquette, practice respect, and build confidence through example, not punishment. Week by week, they’re learning how to carry themselves with dignity, accountability, and pride.

This isn’t just about ties and blazers. It’s about showing young boys what steady mentorship looks like — and how one committed adult can change the trajectory of dozens of lives.
