On This Day In 1929, Civil Rights Movement Leader Martin Luther King Jr. Was Born. Gone, But Not Forgotten. Rest In Power

Happy Birthday, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 🕊️
Born on this day in 1929, Dr. King was more than a civil rights leader — he was a visionary whose courage reshaped America and inspired the world.

A Baptist minister turned activist, Dr. King rose to prominence through nonviolent resistance, leading the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott and co-founding the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) in 1957. His leadership reached a defining moment at the 1963 March on Washington, where he delivered the iconic “I Have a Dream” speech, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest orators in history.

In 1964, he became the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for his commitment to justice through nonviolence. In his final years, Dr. King expanded his fight to include economic justice and opposition to the Vietnam War, launching what would become the Poor People’s Campaign.

Though assassinated on April 4, 1968, his legacy lives on. Honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal, his name and impact echo through generations.

Gone, but never forgotten. Rest in power. ✊🏽
