
At just 15 years old, Heman Bekele has turned curiosity into impact. Inspired by high skin cancer rates in Ethiopia, he developed a low-cost soap using lipid nanoparticles designed to deliver cancer-fighting drugs directly to the skin. His work earned him TIME’s 2024 Kid of the Year, highlighting how innovation, compassion, and access to science can come together to address real global health challenges.
