🌑 Utqiaġvik, Alaska just entered 65 days of darkness.
On November 18, the sun dipped below the horizon — and it won’t rise again until January 22, 2026.
This annual phenomenon, known as polar night, transforms the northernmost city in the U.S. into a world of deep blue skies, ice-covered landscapes, and 24/7 twilight.
Despite the darkness, life continues: children go to school under moonlight, families run errands by headlamp, and the community leans on culture, connection, and resilience to make it through the long night.
Would you survive two months with no sunrise?
