Target Rolls Back DEI Initiatives, Ending Program For Minority-Owned Business Products

Target is ending its diversity, equity and inclusion program along with other equity initiatives, the retailer said on Friday, becoming the latest U.S. firm to pull back these policies, meant to boost racial and ethnic representation at workplaces.

In a memo sent to its employees, Target it will end its three-year DEI goals, stop reports to external groups like the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index and end a program focused on carrying more products from Black- or minority-owned businesses.

Earlier this week, President Trump issued a sweeping executive order directing federal agencies to terminate diversity, equity and inclusion programs, encouraging private companies to do the same.
