(Professor Mashudu Tshifularo made history by becoming the first doctor in the world to cure a 35-year-old patient’s deafness by using 3D printing technology.
He is an educator, a pastor, and a medical specialist. He led the first team in the world to use 3D-printed bones for reconstructive middle ear implants in 2019 at the University of Pretoria and Steve Biko Academic Hospital.
The patient who underwent the successful transplant was a 35-year-old male who had lost his hearing due to a car accident that severely damaged the inside of his ear.
