Nigeria Becomes the U.S.’s Top African Oil Supplier in 2025. 🛢️🇳🇬
Between January and August 2025, the United States imported more than 33 million barrels of Nigerian crude — accounting for over half of all oil shipped from Africa to the U.S. during that period.
The figures highlight Nigeria’s renewed dominance in transatlantic oil trade, outpacing other major African exporters such as Angola, Libya, and Ghana. While overall volumes for 2025 show slight declines compared to previous years, Nigeria remains the continent’s leading contributor to U.S. crude imports.
