Kemisola Bolarinwa, a Nigerian robotics and embedded systems engineer, has developed an innovative smart bra designed to detect early signs of breast cancer.
Inspired by the personal loss of her mother to advanced breast cancer in 2017, Bolarinwa established Nextwear Technologies, Nigeria’s pioneering wearable tech startup, with the goal of tackling the challenges of timely breast cancer detection.
The smart bra employs ultrasound technology to identify potential tumors in just 30 minutes.
The device can be easily used at home, with results sent to a mobile app for simple sharing with healthcare professionals.
This breakthrough aims to bridge the gap in healthcare access, particularly in underserved rural and low-income areas.
