From Isabel Sanford to Quinta Brunson — A Full-Circle Emmy Moment

In 1981, Isabel Sanford made history as the first Black woman to win the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for The Jeffersons.

More than four decades later, Quinta Brunson won the same category for Abbott Elementary, becoming only the second Black woman to do so — a powerful full-circle moment in television history.

Progress may be slow, but the legacy continues.
