Researchers at Northwestern University unveiled the world’s smallest remote-controlled robot—a crab-shaped microbot measuring just 0.5 millimeters wide, small enough to sit on the edge of a penny.
Powered by shape-memory alloys that respond to laser pulses, this tiny robot can walk, twist, turn, and even jump, all without the need for wires or batteries. Instead, it runs entirely on externally applied light.
