Trump announced today that he is signing a new executive order that classifies fentanyl as a “weapon of mass destruction.”
He compared the fentanyl crisis to mass-casualty weapons, saying “no bomb does what this is doing,” and claiming hundreds of thousands of people are dying each year.
If this happens, fentanyl would be treated less like a drug and more like a weapon, giving the government its strongest legal tools to crack down on trafficking.
