Man Honors His Mother’s Memory by Opening Ohio’s First Black-Owned Breast Cancer Center

In honor of his late mother, Lavar Jacobs has opened the state’s first Black-owned breast cancer center, creating a safe, supportive space dedicated to early detection, care, and hope for women in need.

What began as heartbreak has become a mission — one that ensures other families receive the resources, education, and compassion his mother deserved. His center stands as both a tribute to her legacy and a powerful reminder of how love can build what loss once broke.
