Tupac’s “Brenda’s Got A Baby” Was Based on a True Story — and the Real Child Has Finally Been Reunited with His Mother After 20 Years.
Tupac Shakur biographer Jeff Pearlman recently uncovered the identity of Davonn Hodge — the baby who inspired 2Pac’s 1991 classic “Brenda’s Got A Baby.”
Even more remarkable: he helped reunite Hodge, now 34, with his biological mother two decades later.
During an interview on The Rich Eisen Show, Pearlman revealed that Pac first learned about Brenda’s tragic story while filming Juice in New York, after reading a news piece in the New York Daily News. That real-life article told the story that became one of hip-hop’s most haunting songs.
Working with genealogist Michele Soulli, Pearlman tracked down “Brenda’s” baby in Las Vegas — and by fate, his mother was also in town for a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert the same weekend. Their emotional reunion completed a story that began over 30 years ago.
Davonn Hodge and Jeff Pearlman recently appeared on All The Smoke to talk about the experience.
