The FDA Has Upgraded Their Lay’s Potato Chip Recall To A Class 1 Category – Can Cause Life-Threatening Reactions

The Lays potato chip recall issued by the FDA in December just took a turn for the worse.

Initially, Lay’s classic chips were recalled voluntarily due to undeclared milk allergen, but it’s now escalated to a Class 1 situation. According to the FDA, consuming affected chips (13 oz bags) may lead to severe health issues or death.

“Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consumed the recalled product,” the FDA said in their initial recall report . The 13 oz. bags can pose “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death”.

The affected chips are believed to only have been sold in Oregon and Washington and have a “guaranteed fresh” date of February 11th, 2025.

How do you feel about the recent news?

Will you take your chances with other potato chip brands? Or are you eliminating all chips from your diet all together?
