Jasmine Crockett Questions Melania Trump’s U.S Visa: “The Math Ain’t Mathing”

During a House Judiciary Committee hearing this week, Rep. Jasmine Crockett called out what she described as selective outrage from Republicans on immigration policy—asking bluntly how Melania Trump qualified for the rare “Einstein Visa” in 2001.

The EB-1 visa is typically reserved for individuals with extraordinary ability or global recognition. Crockett’s point? If we’re going to scrutinize immigrants, let’s start with the ones married to presidents.

This comes as Trump’s administration pushes to reinstate a harsh immigration rule: undocumented immigrants who’ve been ordered to leave could be fined up to $1,000 per day—with no grace period.

Key changes under the proposed rule:
▫️ Fines can start immediately after a removal order
▫️ Total fines can reach millions if applied retroactively
▫️ 10,000+ fine notices already sent since mid-June
▫️ A Florida woman was billed $1.82M for overstaying since 2005
▫️ Fines only waived if you self-deport using the CBP One app
▫️ DHS is also considering asset seizure for unpaid fines

This rule was first introduced during Trump’s presidency, paused under Biden, and is now making a full comeback.

Critics say it’s a scare tactic designed to punish vulnerable communities. Supporters claim it promotes accountability and clears court backlogs
