“Here At NASA, We All Pee The Same Color…”

Hidden Figures (2016) follows three brilliant Black women at NASA during the early 1960s space race. Katherine “Kay” Johnson (Taraji P. Henson) is a mathematician assigned to the Space Task Group, calculating orbital mechanics for John Glenn’s mission. Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) leads the West Area Computers, becoming NASA’s first Black supervisor and teaching herself Fortran to program IBM computers. Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe) fights to attend an all-white engineering school so she can become an aerospace engineer.

Facing segregation, sexism, and closed doors, they each break barriers. Katherine’s precise calculations ensure Glenn’s safe orbit, Dorothy automates complex computations, and Mary’s engineering work aids future missions.

Their perseverance helps America achieve historic space milestones and paves the way for future generations. The film blends inspiring teamwork, intellect, and heart, highlighting the untold story of these remarkable women.
