Pennsylvania has officially become the 28th state to ban discrimination based on hair type, texture, and protective styles — thanks to the signing of House Bill 439, the state’s version of The CROWN Act.
From schools to workplaces, natural hair has long been policed, punished, and politicized. This law changes that.
It sends a clear message: Black hair is not unprofessional, distracting, or something to be “fixed.” It’s culture. It’s identity. It’s ours.
