“Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person’s slot.” – Charlie Kirk
Award-winning journalist Karen Attiah says she has been terminated from The Washington Post after more than a decade at the paper.
Attiah revealed she was let go over a recent Bluesky post where she called out America’s tolerance for political violence and racism — a post the paper labeled “gross misconduct.”
As the Post’s last full-time Black female opinion columnist, Attiah says she was dismissed without review or conversation:
“Institutions may cancel me, but my pen and my teaching will not be silenced. If anything, my voice will be sharper now.”
She added that her commentary on racial double standards has proven “eerily relevant” given current events — and promised to keep writing and teaching through her Substack.
✍🏾 Do you think this was a fair termination or retaliation for speaking out?
