We are now in the 3rd stage of Give2Goma; First we built a village of 24 houses, then took steps to make the village sustainable by investing into a carpentry business which we are developing in partnership with the villagers who are currently in training. We are also supporting them to develop a soap-making enterprise.
Until the businesses are profitable we have our ongoing costs to cover but unfortunately we are also having to deal with more and more security issues. This is requiring us to build a fence around the land and possibly employ more security.
Ideally we would also like to support more people especially children to access education, as the growing amount of refugees enter the area. More people are moving into the area and due to one of the displacement camps being shut down, people have had to move their tents to anywhere that is free.
We can achieve this and more with your ongoing support – even with all the struggles it’s been so worth it, as our children and families now have hope again. Please keep supporting and learning more about Eastern Congo, and sharing awareness.
